How This Day of LENT Finds Us

How is YOUR heart today

as you step

(or jump headlong, or tiptoe tentatively)

into LENT?

Does this day feel lonely?

Scary?

Inconvenient?

Disruptive?

Irritating?

Welcoming?

Exaggerated?

Beckoning?

Shaming?

Condemning?

Exasperating?

Or…?

This day may find you

Hurting

Hopeful

Hiding

Cheerful

Prayerful

Busy

Weighted

Contemplative

Scattered

Apathetic

Weary

Traumatized

SO  BE  IT

Jesus didn’t wait for a hushed and waiting world to enter into.

Every emotion that exists

All the political turmoil that can’t be suppressed

Any variety of relational harmony or discord

Moments of agony and ecstasy

Acts of kindness and of evil

ALL THOSE THINGS

that are lived out simultaneously

in any given speck of time

were ALL going on

when Jesus

CAME.

ALL THOSE THINGS

were ALL going on

when Jesus

lived among us.

ALL THOSE THINGS

are ALL going on now.

And NOW

Lent Begins.
