When Advent Triggers Longing

Hearts On Fire

The day arrives and finds us as we are.

We smile.

In genuine giddiness.

And?

Or?

For the sake of others.

In humble gratitude.

And?

Or?

Disguising an ache of loss.

Free

And?

Or?

Burdened.

Full

And?

or?

Empty.

Hearts burn.

Happy for what can be enjoyed right now.

And?

Or?

Struggling with longing for the not yet.

Hearts burn.

Indescribably eager to freeze the moment.

And?

Or?

Wishing deeply for a time past or future.

Hearts burn.

Jesus came to seek and save.

And?

Or?

God sees the afflicted and takes their grief in hand.

Hearts burn.

Deliverance has come!

And?

Or?

Troubles persist.

Hearts burn.

Various trials expected and unforseen.

And?

Or?

God’s promised crown of life.

Hearts burn.

God with us here.

And?

Or?

Hope of Jesus returning.

Hearts burn.

I AM – who was and IS.

And?

Or?

Advent – who IS TO COME.

Hearts burn.
