COMMUNITY MATTERS
Safe space created
With intentionality
To be seen and heard;
Perhaps even known and loved.
We are better together.
God says so.
Togetherness sparks joy and fun.
Hearts 💕 bind together during
Communal listening, learning, caring.
Exploring shared experience
Connection
Image of God in all.
Memories are made and cherished.Â
All of us
Created to be relational;
NOT alone, unchallenged, unsupported.
We test and practice vulnerability
Offering peace and refugeÂ
From  craziness  and  cruelty
Originating in brokenness unattended.
How sweet theÂ
Shoulder to shoulder discovery
Of grace and peace
Unveiling their Source.
Our good God
from whom comes
the irreplaceable
WE.Â
(a collaborative psalm – February 4th 2022)
Earlier this month I asked guests at my book launch event to each write,
on a giant lined post-it page,
one line about why community matters.
I could have written a modern psalm about the importance of “one another” in society,
but my heart beat a little faster with excitement
at the thought of various people contributing to a collaborative poem.
More brains and thoughts about a topic are better than one!
Adapted from everyone’s one-line offering,
I hope you enjoyed
The Irreplaceable WE.
Here are some of the folks there that night that may have contributed.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV
[9] Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: [10] If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. [11] Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? [12] Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
How fun! I love this was a collaborative poem. It shows community in action.
Thanks! It’s cool to bring different thoughts together to express different aspects of a same topic!
